Normally you only hear from me about all things IT.

Believe it or not, I do sometimes close down my computer and ponder on where we would be without people caring for other people around this world.

I’d be the first to admit that I can be lost in the latest technology advances and forget about those that are deprived of the absolute basics in life. Food, Water and safe Shelter.

My oldest daughter recently sent me a website link showing me the latest charity work she is going to support – Act for Peace Ration Challenge during Refugee Week.

Yes, of course I was worried it was a scam as I do about any email with a website link that wants to take our money.

After making sure it was legit, I gave her a small donation and started reading through the whole site to work out what it was all about.

I reflected in my recent thoughts and decided to take up this challenge.  So I will join my daughter from 19-25 June to do my little bit to support a greater cause.

Now there are MANY great charities and good causes to support and I am confident most of you are already doing what you can.

The main purpose of the email was simply to do something different than just IT.  If it raises awareness of the predicaments of those that are a lot less fortunate than most of us, then I could not be happier.

For those interested in reading more on what I have signed up for and perhaps want to sponsor me on this little challenge, go to the following link

I would like to apologise in advance to everybody that will be in contact with me during my Ration Challenge Week.

I’m expecting it will be tough as I struggle through this week on such small rations, no caffeine and no alcohol.

Cheers,

Rod
